While it feels like I haven’t been home much this summer, I really haven’t had any exciting travels. All my traveling this summer has been to book events. Which means, I pack up, drive to the event, attend the event, pack up and drive home. Several have been local so it was set up and then drive to the event every day and back home to cool off, eat, and sleep before I did it all over again.
I have events coming up in September. I’ll be at the Oregon State Fair with other Oregon authors selling books from Sept. 4th-7th. If you’re at the fair come by the Columbia Hall and say “Hi!” Later in the month I’ll be at the Oktoberfest with NIWA (Northwest Independent Writers Association). I’ll be working half day shifts selling some of my books and books by other members of the organization. That will be Sept. 17th-20th in Mt. Angel, Oregon.

I grew up living close to an irrigation ditch and the Lostine River. I loved summer when the windows were open and I could hear the water running as I drifted off to sleep. I think that’s why I love the ocean so much too. I like bodies of water. They energize me. does that have anything to do with me being a Cancer? I do know that the moon phases definitely play a part in my energy and work habits.
I’m looking forward to my trip to Wallowa County next month to take in the Hells Canyon Mule Days. It will play a part in my next Gabriel Hawke book. I received an email from a reader who said, they visited Wallowa Lake and the county because of reading my books. That makes me feel good knowing they were so intrigued by the country I write about that they wanted to see it. She said she could see Hawke driving the roads. I love that my characters feel so real to people.
This is kind of a short post. This last part of this month has been packed with things and I’m trying to get as much written on the next Spotted Pony Book as I can get before I head off for the two events in September.
